Wow, another year has almost passed and the holiday season is upon us once again. Which often means food, family, food, friends, celebrations, food, drinking, food, parties, relaxing, food. Mmm, that’s a lot of food in such a short space of time! This begs the question, are your Christmas fitness actions (or lack of) going to undermine your good work to date? What effect will they have on your weight loss progress or health and fitness goals?
You may be thinking fitness and health is not your top priority right now. But did you know there are ways you can weave in some simple healthy actions? Doing so can help ensure you don’t fall off the wagon completely at this time of the year.
Firstly though, remember you CAN all allow yourself to break away from your usual fitness routine and exercise targets during the holiday season. This is important so that you feel refreshed and motivated in the New Year.

Change it up with different winter fitness ideas

Depriving yourself of the tasty treats on offer at this time of year may make you feel resentful and more likely to binge later. Similarly, if you only opt for the holiday cookies, you’ll likely end up feeling tired, bloated, and disappointed with your choices at the end of the festive season.
A simple way to approach meals over the Christmas weeks is to first fill half your plate with salad and/or vegetables. Then fill the remainder of your plate with the other foods you would like to eat. Your food choices will complement your Christmas fitness plan to keep your food cravings at bay and help you feel amazing.
If you like a few alcoholic drinks over this time of the year, consider these ideas to help keep your drinking to a sensible level. You’ll feel more energetic, will be less likely to make poor food choices, and will feel great leading into the New Year. Plus it will be easier to get up in the morning and get into your Christmas fitness plan!
